Bureau of Justice Assistance, Visiting Fellow Award (Dr. Lisa Clements) (in progress)
Dr. Lisa Clements was appointed as a Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Visiting Fellow in her new role with NRI in December of 2023. Dr. Clements began her work with NRI as the Senior Behavioral Health Advisor following serving as an NRI Board member for the past 7 years. She is working with BJA and the Correctional Leaders Association to conduct a survey on trauma assessment practices at admission to state prisons as well as that of carceral staff. The Trauma Assessment and Intervention Overview Survey provides correctional leaders with the opportunity to share how they assess for trauma and their protocols/interventions for addressing trauma in carceral settings. Dr. Clements will integrate the survey findings with relevant literature to identify current best practices in the identification of trauma in carceral settings.
