NRI State Profile Report SMHA Support for the Behavioral Health Crisis Services Continuum, 2022

This report reviews the implementation of Crisis Now service components: “Someone to Talk To”, “Someone to Respond”, and “Someplace to Go” by states. This short report uses information from 48 responding states to identify which states have implemented various crisis services, how many different call centers, mobile crisis teams, <24-hour crisis receiving and stabilization facilities, and short-term residential programs are operating in states, plans to open additional services, how each service component is organized, as well as workforce and financing issues.

Implementation of Crisis Now Components by States, 2022

The report identifies over 544 Behavioral Health Crisis Contact Centers, over 1,286 mobile crisis teams, and 237 Less than 24-hour crisis receiving and stabilization facilities being supported by states in 2022 and plans of state to open more call centers, mobile crisis teams and CRSFs in 2023. Numbers of individuals served, how programs are funded, and barriers states are addressing to assure 24/7 provision of crisis services are addressed.
